Some residents of Phase 10 have alleged that the area of a park was reduced to make vehicle parking space. The Municipal Corporation officials, however said that paver blocks were only installed to make sufficient space for parking.

Subash Kumar, a resident of Phase 10, said that there is nothing wrong in installing the paver blocks but the area of the park should not be reduced as it is the only place where residents can walk. He also said that they feel that the parking space has been created for parking the vehicles of an official who is living nearby. He refused to name the official.

Yadvinder Singh, another resident, seconded the allegation, adding that they had come to know it was for a senior judicial officer who lives nearby. He said that the MC commissioner should look into it.

The Chairman of the Citizen’s Welfare Association, Ripudaman Singh, said that he is not aware of the facts but if it is indeed happening then it is wrong. He said that he will see the area where the work of laying the paver blocks is going on, and if it is wrong he will oppose it.

MC Commissioner, Rajesh Dhiman, said the parking space is not being created to benefit only one person. He also said that he would check with his concerned officials to verify that nothing of the kind was happening.
