Chandigarh: One killed, 6 injured as bus hits escort Gypsy of CM’s media adviser

The driver of the escort vehicle, identified as constable Gurdev Singh, died on the spot

A POLICE constable was killed while six others, including a woman, were injured when an escort Gypsy of the motorcade of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s media adviser Harcharan Bains met with an accident at the railway overbridge in Kurali after being hit by a Punjab roadways bus. Police have booked the bus driver.

According to the police, when Bains’s convoy reached the rail overbridge, the Gypsy collided with the bus coming from the opposite direction. An Innova also hit the bus as it was behind the Gypsy.

The driver of the escort vehicle, identified as constable Gurdev Singh, died on the spot while head constable Gurcharan Singh, Karanveer Singh and Shinderpal Singh have been admitted to PGIMER, Chandigarh, with injuries.

An Innova also hit the bus. Of the three people travelling in that vehicle, a woman, identified as Deepa, was severely injured and hospitalised.
