The Chandigarh Housing Board has accorded approval to the allotment of a vacant booth or shop to the Chandigarh Senior Citizens’ Association from where they can manage and carry out their charitable activities smoothly for the welfare of the senior citizens. This was decided in the board meeting held on Friday. The booth or shop would be given on rental basis.

“It may be ensured that the accommodation so allotted on rental basis to the association should not be used for commercial activities,” stated the order.
It was also discussed that the rehabilitation colony at Dhanas constructed by the board had no basic amenities such as crèches, schools, community and health centres. After detailed deliberations, the board has approved to get the land for service shops in Pocket-A allotted from the Chandigarh administration and would take up construction of shops in Pocket-A.
The land for service shops in Pocket-B and main shopping would be got allotted subsequently for construction of service shops in Pocket-B and main shopping only after watching the response of auction of Service Shops in Pocket-A.
