Chandigarh: Cleanliness drive held at PU Student Centre

Around 50 student volunteers, faculty from various departments, staff of horticulture department as well as Inder Sandhu, founder of NGO Peedu’s People participated in the drive.

Carrying forward the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ movement, the Enactus team of Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (SSBUICET), Panjab University, held a cleanliness cum awareness drive at the university’s Student Centre.

Around 50 student volunteers, faculty from various departments, staff of horticulture department as well as Inder Sandhu, founder of NGO Peedu’s People participated in the drive.

“The main focus of the drive is to spread awareness about two bin system and encourage its use,”said Taranpreet Singh, president of Enactus team. Posters regarding this were circulated among the audience. The shopkeepers at the Student Center were also made aware of the two-bin system and were given posters to paste at their shops. The teams together made an effort to make the Student Centre plastic-free. Also, a cleanliness drive was held at Student Centre, where waste plastic bags, disposable glasses & plates, wrappers, etc. were collected as part of the drive and were loaded in e-rickshaws for disposal.
