Chandigarh-Ambala highway: Four killed, One hurt in accident

The police said the five were returning to Sonipat after attending a wedding.

Four persons, including three women, were killed and one seriously injured when their car hit a truck carrying gas cylinders on the Chandigarh-Ambala Highway on Thursday.  The accident took place near Gholu Majra village near Lalru. The truck driver has been booked in the case.

The police identified the deceased as Narain Devi, her husband Tara Chand, their daughter Rajbala and their neighbour, Deep Shikha. Rajbala’s daughter Garima Sachdeva, who was driving the car, was injured.

The police said the five were returning to Sonipat after attending a wedding. A truck that was in front of their car made a sudden turn, leading to the collision. Passersby and took them to Civil Hospital, Derabassi, where the four were declared dead on arrival. Sachdeva was referred to GMCH, Sector 32.
