Chander Mukhi Sharma appointed member of CBFC

Former councillor and Congress leader Chander Mukhi Sharma has been appointed a member of the Central Board of Film Certification.

Former councillor and Congress leader Chander Mukhi Sharma has been appointed a member of the Central Board of Film Certification. Sharma was the councillor of the Municipal Corporation for two terms in 2001 and 2006.

Sharma is known to be close to the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting,Manish Tewari. Currently he is the president of the Chandigarh Basketball Association. Having started his political career in 1981 as joint secretary of National Students Union of India,he became its general secretary two years later. He was made the Youth Congress chief in Chandigarh in 1998 and held the post till 2001.

Sharma says that it is an opportunity for him to contribute to the world of films. “I will be getting acquainted with the functioning of the board in the coming days and then decide on the future course of action. Around 1,600 films were released last year. There is a lot of scope to bring about a difference,” he says.
