CBI court records officer’s statement in Dera chief case

The special CBI court of Rakesh Kumar Yadav on Wednesday examined the Superintendent of Police CBI,Jammu,Armandeep Singh,who was the investigating officer (IO) in an alleged murder case against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

The former IO told the court that he took the statements of the witnesses in the case including that of the driver of Baba Ram Rahim,Khatta Singh,in which it has been disclosed that the Dera chief conspired in the murder of one of the brothers of a Sadhvi,who he alleged raped,and that of a Sirsa-based journalist,Ram Chander Chatrapati.

Khatta Singh had earlier retracted on his statement that he had given to police and had denied having given any statement to the magistrate in one of the murder cases against the Dera chief. CBI counsel,V K Sharma said the cross-examination of the IO will be carried out on September 21.

In 2002,Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his Dera had come under scanner on charges of sexual exploitation of his women followers.
