The Innova car used by the youth allegedly involved in a drunken quarrel at a Zirakpur dhaba on Sunday night has been traced to the sarpanch of Isapur,a village near Dera Bassi.
The police said the sarpanch claimed his sons had nothing to do with the incident and the vehicle had been borrowed by their friends. Also,the owner of the eatery failed to identify any of the persons who allegedly used the car that night.
Meanwhile,investigations in the matter are on. The police has booked seven unknown people for rioting,causing damage,criminal intimidation,causing hurt and wrongful restraint under sections 148,149,323,341,427 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The incident happened on Sunday night around 9.30 pm when a group of 15-20 youth,who were allegedly drunk,arrived in three separate cars at Sethi Dhaba in Zirakpur. An altercation ensued between them after which they left the dhaba and returned half an hour later to start fighting again. According to the police,they attacked each other with bottles and other items.
The youth allegedly broke the window panes of four vehicles standing outside the dhaba and also injured two employees,Ramu and Puran.
The owner of the eatery,Vijay Sethi,alleged the youth also stole Rs 18,000 from the dhaba before fleeing the spot. However,the accused are yet to be identified and arrested.
