BSF to organise 5-km run as tribute to martyrs

The run will be attended by the BSF officials and the sportspersons from BSF and people from tricity apart from region can take part in the event.

The Border Security Force(BSF), Western Command Headquarters, Mohali, will organise the “Run for Martyrs” on October 22 at Lake Club Sports Complex. The 5 km run will be flagged off by VP Singh Badnore, UT Administrator and Punjab Governor at 700 am.

“So far since its inception in 1965, a total of 1852 BSF personnel have laid down their lives in the service of the nation. In 2017, under the Western Command, 37 BSF personnel were injured while performing their duties and four made the supreme sacrifice for the country. We remember the martyrs with deep gratitude and the run is a tribute to these brave souls,” said Abhinav Kumar, IPS, IG Headquarters SDG, Western Command, BSF, Mohali, while addressing a press conference at the BSF headquarters.

The run will be attended by the BSF officials and the sportspersons from BSF and people from tricity apart from region can take part in the event. “People from the tricity and even from neighbouring states can take part in the event.
