Shimla:The Himachal Pradesh government and International Centre of Roerich,Moscow,on Monday signed an act of transfer of stock and inventory putting a lid on the Roerich Trust controversies. In all 8,126 artefacts,including paintings,books,journals and herbarium collections,have been documented.

5 of armed gang held in Jalandhar

Jalandhar:With the arrest of five people on Monday,the Jalandhar police has claimed to have busted a gang of armed robbers including the kingpin. Police recovered two country-made pistols,illegal drugs and an Audi car,which gang had allegedly stolen a day back. Police said gang leader Tejinderpal Sonu of Kahlwan village had just been released from jail about two months ago.

Brothers booked for attempt to murder

Jalandhar:Police have booked two brothers of an inspector for allegedly opening fire on him. Inspector Baldev Krishan had claimed that his brothers,Amarjit Singh and Paramjit Singh,working as masons,attacked his house and tried to kill him and his son. He further claimed that he retaliated in self-defence and hence injured the duo. The booked brothers are currently in PGI,Chandigarh. Police said a cross case will be filed once the injured brothers give their statements.

2 labourers die in building collapse

Amritsar:Two labourers died on Monday after debris from a three-storey old building,which was being razed,fell on them. Police said the duo,Pamma and Sona,died of head injuries to them. Three other labourers were reportedly injured in the incident. The building was located near the Maha Singh Gate.

Yamunanagar gets flood control room

Yamunanagar:The Haryana government on Monday announced the setting up of a Flood Control Room in Yamunanagar district to deal with any eventuality of floods due to heavy rains. The control room will function till October 15 and the administration has started the following helpline numbers: 01732-237800 and 237801.

Prostitution racket unearthed in Hisar

Hisar:The Hisar police has arrested a resident of Patel Nagar,Sunita,on charges of immoral trafficking. The complainant in the case,a Delhi resident,had alleged that Sunita had promised her a job,for which she had paid a sum of Rs 11,000. The complainant added that when she came to Hisar from Delhi,Sunita forced her into prostitution. The accused was produced in court on Sunday and has been remanded to judicial custody.

Arrest warrant out against DSP,ex-SSP

Amritsar:A local court on Monday issued arrest warrants for former senior superintendent of police (Amritsar) Kultar Singh and serving deputy SP Hardev Singh Boparai in a case dating back to 2004 and relating to five members of a family committing suicide allegedly after being harassed by the by police officers. Punjab Human Rights Organisation had moved the court after suicide notes blaming the policemen was found written on the walls of the house where Hardeep Singh and four of his family committed suicide.

Haryana transfers 16 IPS officers

Chandigarh:The Haryana government on Monday transferred 16 IPS officers with immediate affect. Those transferred included Prabhat Ranjan Deo (IG Training),Om Prakash Singh (IGP South Range,Rewari),P S Ranga (IGP CTI Home Guards) and Saurabh Singh (SP Jind).
