Bowlers put Ropar on verge of victory against Chandigarh

After Chandigarh posted a total of 217 runs in their first innings,Ludhiana were bundled out for a total of 161 runs in 76.3 overs.

A six-wicket haul by Raghav Bali (6 for 37) put Ropar into a commanding position against hosts Chandigarh on the penultimate day of the match in the ML Markan Trophy for U-16 being played at DAVSS-Sector 8. After Chandigarh posted a total of 217 runs in their first innings,Ludhiana were bundled out for a total of 161 runs in 76.3 overs. Opener Gurdeep Singh played a brilliant knock of 102 runs off 176 balls. For Chandigarh,Adarsh claimed five wickets for 28 runs.

However,Chandigarh made a disastrous start in their second innings. Raghav Bali ripped apart through the Chandigarh innings by claiming six wickets for 37 runs. Chandigarh got a first innings lead of 156 runs. At the end of the day’s play,Ropar were 11 for 2 in 10 overs.

Patiala in driver’s seat

An all-round show by Akul Pandove (82 runs,2 for 7) put Patiala into the driver’s seat against Mohali in another match played at Patiala. The hosts posted a total of 461 runs in 157.2 overs in their first innings. M Markanda (91) and Akul Pandove (82) were top scorers for Patiala and were associated in a 138-run stand for the fifth wicket.

For Mohali,S Gill claimed five wickets for 41 runs. At the end of the day’s play,Mohali were 94 for 4 in 37 overs in their second innings.

At the end of the day’s play,Ludhiana were 9 for 1 in 3.5 overs.
