The Bharatiya Janata Party Traders Cell,Chandigarh held a protest demonstration at the roundabout of Sector 7-8-18-19 against the anti-trader policies of the Congress-led Central Government and also voiced the various problems of the trader community. Party leaders also handed over a memorandum to the governors of Punjab and Haryana.
While addressing the protestors Shyam Bihari Mishra,National Convener,BJP Traders Cell, said that the Congress-led central government is harassing the trader community and has been doing nothing for its welfare.
He said that traders are being mentally tortured by creating unnecessary pressure on them. he also pointed out that no policy has been created yet for their welfare, which indicated that the central government does not have any sympathy with the trader community. At this time,he said, when prices of goods are sky-rocketing,traders are barely able to manage their business and alleged that the central government wanted to ruin them by allowing Foreign Direct Investment in the retail sector.
Mishra further said that the government is trying to impose an Inspector Raj,through several acts like the Food Safety Act and the Goods and Services Tax. He alleged that the Centre is not serious about the safety and security of traders and that cases of snatching and dacoity with traders are on an increase.
He demanded that the government constitute a Traders Welfare Board to make the policies concerned with the traders and that all the genuine demands of traders be fulfilled at the earliest.
