BJP holds protest against hike in power tariff

The city unit of BJP on Wednesday protested over the recent hike in the power tariff announced by the government.

The city unit of BJP on Wednesday protested over the recent hike in the power tariff announced by the government. The party workers gathered at Shakti Bhawan Chowk in Sector 6 and sought a rollback in the power tariff.

The party workers raised slogans against the government,terming the move as another example of the anti-people policy espoused by the Congress-led government in the state.

The demonstration was led by district unit chief of the BJP,Vishal Seth,who was joined in the protest by other leaders of the party. The BJP workers also raised slogans against Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd (HVPNL) for effecting the hike.

Seth said that the increase in the electricity cost badly affects the middle class people and was not required. “The ruling Congress party is only the party of rich and not the party of poor and average people,” he said.

The BJP demanded an immediate rollback of the power tariff hike. Other BJP leaders who were a part of the protest were state vice president,Banto Kataria,senior leaders,Shamlal Bansal,Gian Chand Gupta,former councillor,BB Singhal and C B Goel. The BJP leader displayed banners seeking a reduction in the prices of electricity.
