A protest demonstration was held near the residence of Union Minister Pawan Bansal. Led by BJP leaders, the protesters raised a number of demands.

The complaints included lack of adequate water and electricity supply in the city, demolition of houses, cut in quota of kerosene, price rise and unemployment. Addressing the demonstrators, former BJP MP Satya Pal Jain said despite the fact that the local Congress MP had been a minister at the Centre for the past eight years,he had not bothered to solve any of the issues facing Chandigarh.

He added that the only thing that had flourished during the Congress regime was price rise and corruption.

Harmohan Dhawan, former Union Minister, said even those who voted for the Congress minister in the last election were feeling let down by the non-performance of the minister qua Chandigarh. “It is surprising that a minister for water resources is unable to arrange for drinking water even for the residents of his own constituency.”

Former councillor of Municipal Corporation Anil Dubey said poor people were facing the day to day problems created by the government such as cut in kerosene oil quota,non-availability of water and electricity, demolitions carried out in residential houses and price rise.
