Showing off his batting prowess,Bhupinder Singh smacked a brilliant 141-ball century (151) to enable Punjab to beat Jammu & Kashmir in a match to move ahead in the ongoing North Zone cricket tournament being played for Vinoo Mankad Trophy,played at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday. Batting first,Punjab posted a total of 282 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs. Punjab dealt the first blow when their opener Jaskaranveer Singh was sent packing by medium-pacer Umar Nazir for 4 runs. Following his dismissal,Bhupinder Singh walked in to join Rohan Marwaha. The duo added 35 runs for the second wicket stand,before Rohan was run out. Punjab got another jolt,when the new batsman Simranpreet Singh,failed to judge the ball while taking a run and as a result,ran out himself for 20 runs. Punjab were struggling at that stage. Thereafter,it was Vicky Sharma and Bhupinder Singh’s 99-run fourth wicket partnership that put Punjab back on track. Bhupinder held the Punjab innings together before he was caught by Ahmad Bande off Aquib Nazir for 151 runs. For JKCA,Aquib Nazir (2 for 55) was the most successful bowler. In reply,JKCA were 126 for 6 in 41 overs when the match was stopped because of bad light. The match was decided by VJD System and at par score of Punjab after 41 overs,which was 231 runs while JKCA scored 126. Punjab won by 105 runs with a bonus point. They secured five points while JKCA got (-1). For the visitors,Paras Sharma was unbeaten on 50 runs when the match was called off. Siddharth Sharma (2 for 22) bagged the maximum number of wickets for Punjab.

Shivam stars in Delhi victory over hp
MEANWHILE in the second match of the day played at the GMSSS,Sector 26 ground,riding high on Shivam Sharma’s all-round performance (68 runs and 2 for 31),Delhi lads recorded a five-wicket win over Himachal Pradesh to bag four points. Winning the toss,Delhi captain asked Himachal to bat first. Maintaining good line and length,Delhi bowlers bundled the HP team for 171 runs in 46.3 overs. Ankit Kalsi (56) and Nakulraj Sharma (36) were the principal run getters for Himachal. For Delhi,Sarang Rawat (3 for 31),Shivam Sharma (2 for 31) and Nitish Rana (2 for 18) shared the spoils. The modest total of 171 runs was an easy target for Delhi team to get. Delhi did manage to pull off the win,though it struggled to achieve the target and won only in the last over with just two balls to spare. Delhi were given a rousing start by their openers Akarshit Gumail and Shivam Sharma who put on 105 runs for the first wicket in 28.1 overs. Their partneship was broken when Arjun Sharma cleaned up Akarshit Gumail for 47 runs. Arjun Sharma struck again in quick succession,as he clean bowled Shivam Sharma for 68 runs. Arjun Sharma (3 for 34) was the most successful bowler for Himachal.
