BCCI Specialist Academy U-19 camp from tomorrow

The BCCI affiliated Specialist Academy at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali,will have its first Under-19 camp of the upcoming season from June 10 onwards.

Mohali: The BCCI affiliated Specialist Academy at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in Mohali,will have its first Under-19 camp of the upcoming season from June 10 onwards. The selected trainees have been picked up by the Junior National Selection Committee and would undergo training for one month at Mohali starting from June 18 and ending on July 15. According to the administrative manager of the academy,the academy will be catering to players from nine state like Punjab,Haryana,Himachal,Jammu & Kashmir,Services,U.P. Railways,Rajasthan and Delhi. For the U-19 camp,two players from Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and Railways,three from Haryana Cricket Association,PCA, Rajasthan Cricket Association and Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association,four from Delhi District Cricket Association and Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association,have been selected by the Junior Selection Committee. The academy will be supervised by three BCCI Level-III coaches,a physio,a trainer alongwith a video analyst. This specialist academy which was earlier catering to only quick bowlers,will now be addressing all parameters of the sport.

Suraj stars in BECC victory

PATIALA: A superb all-round display from Suraj (61 not out and 4 for 24) helped Black Elephant Cricket Club beat Phoenix Club by 14 runs in an exciting league match of the Patiala Hot Weather T20 cricket tournament played on Saturday. Fielding first after winning the toss,Phoenix Club bowlers restricted the BECC team to 132 for 4 in the stipulated 20 overs. Suraj was in blazing form and clobbered four huge sixes during his unbeaten knock,that came off just 34 deliveries. Salinder Salaria (28) was the other noteworthy scorer for BECC. Pandey bowled well and bagged two wickets for mere three runs. In reply,Phoenix Club fell short of the target by 14 runs,as they were all out for 120 runs. Suraj ran through the Phoenix Club batting lineup and scalped four wickets to steer the team to victory. Bharti also bowled well and took three wickets for the winning team.

Umesh helps Kundan Academy triumph

CHANDIGARH: Umesh single-handedly took Kundan Cricket Academy to victory over BN Cricket Academy,Panchkula,as he starred both with the bat and the ball in a match played during the 4th KCA Summer Cup Cricket Trophy,on Saturday. Umesh scored quickfire 58 runs and then returned to pick up six wickets to take his team to victory. Earlier,riding high on Umesh’s knock,KCA posted 170 for 9 in 30 overs. Umesh’s knock came off 51 deliveries with the help of seven boundaries and one towering six. Ankit Chaudhary and Canyam bagged three wickets each for BN Academy. Chasing the target,BN Academy were bundled out for 70 runs in 20 overs. Manish top scored for the team with 48 runs. However,the day belonged to Umesh,as he returned to haunt the BN Academy team and picked up six wickets to destroy their batting. Rinku took three wickets for the winning team.
