Bansal inspects Chandigarh development projects

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal took stock of construction work at the shopping centre in Vikas Nagar,the day market at Charan Singh Colony in Mauli Jagran and the stainless steel bus shelter at Manimajra on Friday. He was accompanied by Municipal Corporation officials.

A total of 136 sheds will be constructed for the day market at an estimated cost of Rs 74 lakh. The officials stated that work will be completed by the end of this financial year. The union minister directed the concerned officials to ensure transparency while allotting sheds in the day market.

As many as 112 booths will be constructed at the shopping centre in Vikas Nagar. Fifty per cent of the construction has already been completed and the rest of the work will be completed before this October.

Bansal also took stock of channelisation at the open nullah from Indra Colony to Mauli Jagran. The concerned officers said 40 per cent of the work had been completed and the rest will be completed within this financial year. The total length of the nullah is 3 kilometre and an approximate amount of Rs 11.55 crore will be spent on the project.

The newly built stainless steel bus shelter at Manimajra was also inspected. It has the capacity to accommodate around 120 people.
