Local MP and former Railways Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal criticized the officials of the UT Administration for not taking decisions and delaying issues. He was addressing a gathering at a programme organized by the city unit of the Youth Congress.

Bansal said that in some areas, the registry of plots was allowed even when people could not have bought smaller plots for agricultural purposes. He said that this should have been seen to by the officials. He further added that when a solution to the issue was found, the officials concerned had completed their tenure and left.

Bansal said,“There is a habit of delaying work. The atmosphere has become such that the officials do not take decisions. They just want to complete their tenure and leave. This should not be done. When we take up certain responsibility,we should fulfill it.”

He further said that where land is to be acquired, the people who are displaced should be given alternate accommodation.

Some area should be earmarked for them,Bansal said. He said that the low rates of compensation that was being given did not allow people to buy land at alternate places.

Mayor Subhash Chawla who spoke on the occasion said that attempts would be made to get the houses outside the lal dora regularised. He said that a policy needs to be framed as a one-time measure to take care of the problem.

Earlier at a programme organized at the Congress Bhawan,Sector 35,it was decided that the party workers would reach out to the residents in all sectors and highlight work done by the party as well as listen to all their problems.

Congress leaders H S Lucky said that attempts would be made to increase the membership of the Congress from 30,000 to 50,000.
