A Kharar resident was waylaid and assaulted with sharp weapons near Mianpur Changar village in Mohali on Friday. Gurmukh Singh,a resident of Khizrabad village,was rushed to the Civil Hospital from where he was shifted to PGI in Chandigarh in a critical condition,police said. He told the police that while crossing a seasonal rivulet,assailants on a Tata Safari attacked him. When a passerby came to his rescue,Gurmukh said the assailants fled the spot. Police have registered a case under Sections 355,323,148 and 149 of the IPC against one Jasmer Singh alias Jagga of Mianpur Changar,whom the victim identified in his complaint,and other unidentified assailants,who have not been arrested yet,investigation officer Ranjeet Singh told Newsline.
