Association pledges to make Punjab a smoke-free state

World No Tobacco Day was celebrated by Generation Saviour Association on Sunday against consumption of tobacco and smoking. Kiranbir Singh Kang,member,political affair committee of Shiromani Akali Dal was the chief guest on the occasion.

Prizes were distributed to nearly 150 students of different schools who had participated in activities against tobacco consumption. The aim was to create awareness among the youth about the negative effects of tobacco. Amteshwar Kaur,president of the association,claimed that tobacco companies were continuously trying to promote tobacco consumption among youth.

“We aim to declare Punjab a smoke-free state. A delegation will be meeting Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal to discuss the issue,” Kaur said.
