Ashmita helps Sacred Heart-26 win title

Ashmita came up with a superb all-round effort (1 for 30,40 n.o.) in the final to help Sacred Heart School,Sector 26,Chandigarh,beat IS Dev Samaj School,Sector 21,Chandigarh,by six wickets and win the sub-junior state women cricket tournament (Under-16) for Kailash Bahl Trophy at IS Dev Samaj School cricket ground in Sector 21 on Friday.

Is Dev Samaj-21 won the toss and elected to bat first. Riding high on a superb half-century by Rishita (58 n.o.),the hosts posted 150 runs on the board for the loss of two wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Poonam chipped in with useful 3 runs. For Sacred Heart-26,Suman and Ashmita took one wicket each.

Ashmita was the architect of Sacred Heart’s run chase as she hit an unbeaten 40. Jhanvi and Nandini chipped in with 19 runs each. Poonam,Muskan and Shagun took wicket each for the hosts.

Poonam of the host school was declared best bowler of the tournament while Balwinder of Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 56,won the best all-rounder award. Ashmita of Sacred Heart-26 claimed the woman of the match and best batswoman titles.
