Asaram supporters to go on hunger strike today demanding his release

Demanding Asaram Bapu’s release,his followers will hold a hunger strike on Saturday and a protest march next week.

Demanding Asaram Bapu’s release,his followers will hold a hunger strike on Saturday and a protest march next week. While the hunger strike will be held at the ashram near PGI,the protest march will commence from Sector 23.

Asaram,arrested on charges of allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl,is presently in judicial custody. Rajinder Singh,spokesperson of the Chandigarh ashram said they had full faith in the judiciary. “We are confident Bapu is innocent. The allegations against him are false and he has been wrongly accused,” Singh said.

He added memorandums had been submitted to the Governors of Punjab and Haryana,while mentioning that different units had sent these to the President and prime minister as well.

Asaram heads 400 ashrams and 1,200 samitis. Talking about allegations that some of these properties were illegal,Singh said there could be minor problems but there were no anomalies.
