Chandigarh: The Department of Chemistry,MCM DAV College for Women,organised a national seminar on “Bridging the Gaps between Science,Nature and Society” on Wednesday. The technical session was hosted by the Manmohan Chibber,Thapar University,Patiala,Arshinder,Director,Economic and Agro Resource Management; and Anu Shablok. The session was followed by an open house with Sherry Sabharwal,Department of Sociology,PU,as the moderator.

PGI doc awarded international fellowship

Chandigarh: Dr Santosh Kumar,assistant professor at the Department of Urology at PGIMER,was awarded MIUC International Travel Fellowship at Bengaluru by Urological Society of India. Under the aegis of this fellowship he attended British Association of Urology Surgeons (BAUS) conference at Liverpool and joined the Royal Liverpool University Hospital for renal transplant and robotic surgery for three weeks. This fellowship is given by urology society of India once every year. Dr Kumar presented three papers at the 31st annual congress of The Société Internationale d’Urologie in Berlin,Germany.

PU to host conference on Nanotechnology

CHANDIGARH: Panjab university is going to organise an International Conference on ‘Frontiers in Nanoscience,Nanotechnology and Their Applications: NanoSciTech-2012”on Thursday. A pre-conference was made at the University by the Vice-Chancellor,R C Sobti. In his inaugural address,the VC appreciated the efforts of nanotechnologists in making nano-based technologies accessible for serving mankind. In the first session,Prof Indu Pal Kaur discussed the applications of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs) as effective drug delivery systems.
