PU hosts international conference on genetics

Chandigarh: A three-day International Conference on “Genes,Genetics & Genomics: Today & Tomorrow- Human Concerns” and Annual Conference of The Indian Society of Human Genetics was inaugurated at Panjab University on Saturday. Addressing the gathering,Vice-Chancellor R C Sobti said,“Research in genes and genomics would soon lead to development of individualised medicine based on individuals’ own genomic information.”

National human rights seminar held

Chandigarh: A one-day national seminar on ‘Human Right Issues and Perspectives’ was organised by the Guru Gobind Singh College for Women Sector 26 on Saturday. While addressing the students and delegates,Dr Baltej Singh Mann,professor and head,Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Integration Chair,Punjabi University,Patiala criticised the syllabus of human rights taught in colleges and university as it only dates back to 1948.
