Allot sports hostel to girl students: NSUI to PU

Members of the National Student Organisation of Panjab University (NSUI),one of the student organisations of Panjab University (PU),submitted a memorandum to the Dean Student Welfare (DSW),Professor Navdeep Goyal on Tuesday.

They sought allotment of the Sports Hostel to girl students of the university until the construction of the ninth girls hostel is completed.

NSUI President,Bindu Grewal cited a 2010 incidence,when girl students were accommodated in the Sports Hostel until the eight Girls Hostel was ready.

He said,“Allowing the girl students to stay in the sports hostel for the next two months will solve the main problem of accommodation of these students.

Presently,PU has seven boys and eight girls hostel on its campus,but many students still face problems of getting a hostel seat. In order to address the problem,two hostels,one each for boys and girls are being constructed in the south campus of the university.

The construction of the ninth girls hostel is expected to be completed in the next two months.

Meanwhile,NSUI party president,Manoj Lubana said,“The problem of hostel accommodation will be solved within days after inauguration of Hostel number 9,but till then students need to be accommodated.”
