State Congress president Captain Amarinder on Sunday accused the SAD-BJP combine of deleting he names of Congress supporters from voters’ list in Ludhiana,Jalandhar,Amritsar and Patiala, where municipal corporation polls will be held on June 10.

In a statement released on Sunday,Amarinder said: “I have been receiving scores of complaints from party contestants that wherever the Akalis feel that Congress is becoming stronger, they are getting the votes of the Congress supporters deleted. The Akalis, knowing well that they are losing all the four municipal corporations, are now trying to win these elections by other means, which we won’t allow at any cost.”

While appealing to election officials not to play in the hands of the Akalis and perform their duties in a fair and impartial manner,Amarinder said: “Let me make it clear to all those officials who are being partisan that we will ensure that law catches up with them and they account for their acts of omission and commission.”

The state Congress president further said that the candidates were provided with the voter lists only on Saturday,“obviously with the motive to ensure that they cannot get the necessary corrections made,if needed”. “There are hundreds of objections which need to be corrected,” he said, while adding that the Akalis were trying to use extra-constitutional means to win the elections.
