The Centre on Thursday informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that it is ready to reduce the restricted zone at the Gurgaon Air Force ammunition depot by 600 metres provided that the Haryana government clears all encroachments within the reduced area. The central government has offered to reduce the restricted zone from 900 metres of the depot boundary wall to 300 metres.

The submissions were made during the resumed hearing of case before the division bench comprising of Justices S K Mittal and Mahavir Singh Chauhan on Tuesday. The court then directed the Haryana government to submit its reply on the application moved by the Centre.

The court also asked the Haryana government to make sure that there is no encroachment in the restricted zone outside the Air Force establishments at Gurgaon and Faridabad, where the restricted area is 100 metres from the Air Force boundary.

According to rules, no construction can be raised within 900 metre of the parapet of the ammunition depot in Gurgaon and within 100 metres of the Air Force Station in Faridabad.
