Congress leadership was extra cautious on Tuesday after yesterday’s incident of shoe being at Rahul Gandhi. So the spectators at Dana Mandi were told not to carry even mineral water bottles inside.

“They can act as a spoilsport as well. After yesterday’s incident,we have been given clear instructions,” said a Congress supporter busy making arrangements.

The security staff on duty was also told to stay “without water.” “We went inside the Mandi and had our fill of water in the morning and then performed our duty without any water. We are used to such types of conditions. Moreover, the weather was good today,” a policemen who was deputed on VIP duty said.

Water was served only on the stage from where Sonia and others were to address the masses. Security forces were deputed all over keeping a close eye on the crowd. So much so,that people who stood up to click photographs were bluntly told to sit down.

However,to every one’s surprise, the UPA chairperson, attired in a black Kashmiri embroidered suit, came near the gathering to greet the masses. “She took an envelope from me. It was letter of thanks for appointing me as the media in-charge,” party leader Amarjeet Singh Tikka said.

Kastoori Lal,block President Samrala said,“This used to be the style of former PM Indira Gandhi and the same has been followed by Sonia Gandhi as well. I saw her from close quarters.”

Kashmiri Lal Bittu, block President,Sahnewal added,“I waved at her and she gave a response. In fact, she responded to each and every hand thaty waved at her.”

Later while addressing the rally she targeted the SAD-BJP government in Punjab for not using the funds given by the Centre.
