Activist writes to PU chancellor over ‘wrong’ appointment

A city-based RTI activist,Dr Rajinder K Singla,has written to the chancellor of Panjab University Dr M Hamid Ansari,secretaries of UGC and Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development and PU officers informing them of a wrong appointment of one Mandeep,daughter of DAV College Sector 10 principal B C Josan,in DAV College-10 only.

Singla alleged that Mandeep got her PhD degree from CMJ University,Shillong. “Her degree is fake as Meghalaya governor has lodged FIR against the CMJ varsity for committing various acts of corruption including issuance of fake PhD degrees. As many as 434 PhD degrees were issued by the varsity in one academic session 2012-13 alone”.

He further alleged that Mandeep has been selected by a selection committee in an interview conducted on June 16 in the office of the DAV College,Managing Committee,Chitra Gupta Road,New Delhi.

On June 14,two days prior to the interview,Singla claimed that he had emailed an interim/advance complaint to the all concerned and apprised them of the fact how Josan was going to induct his daughter into his college as an assistant professor according to his pre-planned strategies.

Even UGC through a public notice,also available on its site,has informed the general public that principal secretary to the government of Meghalaya vide letter dated June 12 has informed that the Governor of the state has recommended the dissolution of CMJ University interms of Section 48 of the CMJ University Act,2009. B C Josan said,“I cannot comment on the issue as I was not part of the interview panel that selected her”.

While Dean College Development Council (DCDC) Prof Naval Kishore said the varsity has written to the UGC seeking clarification regarding the status of CMJ University. Whatever reply we will get from the UGC,we will act accordingly.
