Abhishek falls one short of perfect ten on opening day

Led by superb bowling performance by Abhishek Sharma (9 for 48),visitors Amritsar restricted Mohali to a first innings total of 108 runs on the opening day of their match in the second round of the Under-12 to 14 Non Residential Inter-Academy tournament played at Mohali on Sunday.

Led by superb bowling performance by Abhishek Sharma (9 for 48),visitors Amritsar restricted Mohali to a first innings total of 108 runs on the opening day of their match in the second round of the Under-12 to 14 Non Residential Inter-Academy tournament played at Mohali on Sunday.

Amritsar won the toss and elected to field first. However,their batting order crumbled under pressure due to some hostile bowling performance from the visitors and were bundled out for 108 runs in 44.1 overs. Manav Malhotra top scored for the hosts with 27 runs while Jaskaran Singh chipped in with 20 runs.

For Amritsar,Abhishek Sharma was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of nine wickets for 48 runs in 19.1 overs.

In reply,Amritsar were 86 for 5 in their first innings at the end of the day’s play. Abhishek Sharma top scored with 39 runs while Lakshay Mohan contributed 27 runs. For Mohali,Ankur bowled well to claim four wickets for ten runs.

In the second match played at Dhruve Pandove Stadium,Patiala,Chandigarh were bundled out for just 114 runs in 52 overs against Patiala in their first innings. Sagar Saran was the top scorer for the Chandigarh team with 46 runs off 102 balls. Saran smashed five boundaries and one six during his stay at the crease. Ayush Sikka contributed 27 runs.

For Patiala,Tejpreet claimed six wickets for 34 runs while Rahul Prasad grabbed two wickets for five runs. At the end of the day’s play,Patiala were 37 for 4 in 17 overs in their first innings. Pulkit Lal was unbeaten on 11 runs. For Chandigarh,Tavleen Singh claimed two wickets for seven runs while Satyan Sharma grabbed one wicket for nine runs.

In the third match being played at Ludhiana,Jalandhar were restricted to 136 runs in 55.2 overs. At the end of the day’s play,Ludhiana were 46 for 4 in 12 overs.
