78 attend blood camp

The 26th voluntary blood camp by The Indian Express Blood Donors’ club was held at the Express premises here on Monday.

The camp,which was inaugurated by Akshay Mehra,Deputy Manager (PR and CSB),received good participation,including by some who donated blood for the first time. The team,led by Dr Usha Rao,from the Department of Transfusion Medicine of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) organised the camp where 78 women and men participated.

PGIMER had brought its state-of-the-art mobile air-conditioned van in which the entire blood collection was carried and which was equipped with the latest equipment to aid collection and also transfusion. The blood donors’ club holds this activity twice a year regularly. The camp was sponsored by the State Bank of India,Sunderam a South Indian food chain,and Talwar Diary.
