A little more than a year-and-a-half after the Haryana government began the CM window facility for citizens to submit their grievances, 60 officials have been suspended for not dealing with the complaints satisfactorily.

Among those suspended include, a Chief Medical Officer, nine Block Development officers and two tehsildars.

OSD to CM (Grievances) Bhupeshwar Dayal said, “Sixty officials have been suspended for delay in dealing with complaints, insensitive behaviour and giving wrong replies. Apart from these, there are many others against whom action has been initiated following complaints received against them. The officials who receive complaints at the CM window have been instructed not to read the complaints and only scan and upload these. The complaint can be against anyone.”

The CM window was inaugurated on December 25, 2014. Since then, over 1,78,500 complaints were received, of which around 1,41,900 have been disposed off. A total of 8,632 complaints are such that these cannot be sorted.

“There are certain kinds of complaints that cannot be dealt with. These include complaints about cases in court. At times, both parties who have filed cases against each other with the police give complaints against each other. We cannot interfere in police investigation. Review meetings are held regularly to check the status of disposal of complaints,” said Dayal.

Among the complaints, the most were against police at around 37,000 followed by Development and Panchayat department against whom around 20,000 complaints were received.
