5-year-old girl hit by car,dies

A five-year-old girl died and another was seriously injured when they were hit by a speeding car at a traffic light point on the road dividing Sectors 45 and 33 on Thursday afternoon.

In another case of rash driving,Sector-42 man has a miraculous escape

A five-year-old girl died and another was seriously injured when they were hit by a speeding car at a traffic light point on the road dividing Sectors 45 and 33 on Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the car rushed the two girls to GMCH-32,where Burail-resident Chhoti was declared dead on arrival,while Julie is admitted in the hospital,the police said.

“The girls had come to attend a fair in the area and were crossing the road when they were hit,” said a police officer. A case has been registered against the car’s driver.

In another incident,Surinder Singh of Sector 42 escaped death after his speeding Esteem car rammed through the heavy iron fence on the road dividing Sectors 22 and 23 and crossed over to the other side of the road.

Fortunately,there were no vehicles plying on the other side of the road at the time and a possible pile-up was avoided,the officer added. Singh escaped with minor injuries.

The accident occurred around 9 am when Singh reportedly overtook a bus from the wrong side,and spotted a scooter right ahead of him. In an attempt to save the scooterist,and himself,he swerved the speeding car to the right,brushed the bus,and crashed into the fence,police officer said.

Singh has been booked for rash driving.
