A total of 559 students will be awarded degrees as Punjab Engineering College (PEC) University of Technology,Sector-12,gears up for the 43rd convocation to be held on October 12.
In all 379 students,who have completed their BE programme,and 180 students,who have completed their ME programme,will be presented their degrees on Saturday.
Six candidates will be honoured with PhD degrees,while gold medals will be given to students selected for their excellent performance in fields apart from academics.
Padma Vibhushan Professor M M Sharma,Emeritus Professor of Eminence,University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT),Mumbai,will be chief guest on the occasion. Professor Sharma is former vice-president of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and has also served as chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas from 1981-2001.
With just one day to go,preparations for the event are in full swing as the organisers wish to make the event memorable for students and faculty.
