336 vehicles challaned in nakas set up in city

Continuing with checks on motor vehicle violations in the city,the UT Police set up special checking nakas from 6 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday.

In the nakas,589 motor vehicles were checked,out of which 34 were challaned for various traffic violations and one vehicle was impounded as well.

During the late night nakas from 10.30 pm to 12.30 am,35 out of 46 vehicles which were challaned were for ‘drunken driving’ and 11 for other violations.

A fine of Rs 900 was also collected on the spot during checking.

On Wednesday,seven nakas from 5 pm to 7 pm were held in which 256 vehicles were challaned. 199 challans were for over speeding and the rest were for other miscellaneous violations.

Protest held over Delhi rape

A protest against the rape of the five year old in Delhi was held Wednesday in ward number 22. It was led by BJP councillor Heera Negi.

Negi demanded that the people who are involved in such acts should be given harsh punishment.

The BJP leaders said that Congress has failed to take strong steps against the accused in several rape cases. A demand for strict laws was also raised by the protesters.
