33 kgs of poppy husk seized,2 arrested

Two persons were arrested from near Colony No 5 after 33 kgs of poppy husk was recovered from their possession on Monday evening.

Two persons were arrested from near Colony No 5 after 33 kgs of poppy husk was recovered from their possession on Monday evening.

The accused have been identified as Chandershekhar Upadhyay,27,and Chunmun alias Naresh,19. Both were residing in Hallomajra and were natives of Bihar.

Sub-Inspector Balbir Singh,in-charge Sector 49 Police Post,said,“The two were carrying four bags which appeared to be heavy after which we moved in. On checking,we found that all the bags contained a packet each of poppy husk.” The two have been arrested and a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Sector 34 Police station.

He added that the accused told them that the poppy husk was smuggled into Bihar from Nepal. The agents in Bihar supplied it to various places. The two also used to supply the banned substance in various places. The accused will be produced in court on Tuesday.
