For harassing a young couple on Thursday morning, two constables and one Home Guard volunteer were sent to Police Lines on Thursday. Sending a cop to the Police Lines from a public posting is a punishment for the errant official.

In the early morning,a young couple were stopped by the three police officials. They were in a private vehicle (Maruti Swift). The incident occurred near Sector 20. After stopping the couple, the trio started demanding money from them. The couple reportedly paid some money to avoid further harassment.

However, the couple later lodged a complaint at Police Station,Sector 19,following which an inquiry was ordered and the trio were prima facie held guilty of harassing the couple and charging money. The three — Constable Rajesh Kumar,Constable Pardeep Kumar and Home Guard volunteer Dalel — were immediately sent to the Police Lines,Sector 26,on the directions of the Superintendent of Police (city and headquarters).

The police also ordered a departmental inquiry against the three.
