The Special CBI Court,Chandigarh has acquitted three of the four accused charged with the murder of a 21-year-old man 28 years ago,giving the benefit of doubt to them. The Court had acquitted the three accused on August 24,and the copy of the judgment was made available Wednesday.

In the detailed judgment report,which runs into 114 pages,special CBI Judge Vimal Kumar has held that “the prosecution could not produce clear,cogent,credible and convincing evidence to prove the guilt of the accused”.

The body of Inderjit Singh was found at a rented accommodation in Sector 34. The four accused were landlords of the house where Singh was staying. After having fought the legal battle for 27 years,Allah Singh,father of the deceased,died last year at the age of 87 awaiting justice.

After thorough examination of the evidences and findings in the case,the court held that “the prosecution has failed to prove the guilt of the accused upto hilt beyond shadow of all reasonable doubt”.
