Two representatives of National Students Union of India (NSUI) – Sunny Mehta and Ravinder Singh Rawat, went on an indefinite hunger strike on Wednesday. They are seeking rollback in the recent hike in hostel mess charges and food item prices at the Student Centre. The students have been objecting to the Rs 3 hike since the beginning of this year. Mehta said,“We have been protesting since long times and have met the Vice-Chancellor five times but to no avail.” The V-C assured students that he will discuss the issue with Dean Student Welfare,A S Ahluwalia, before taking any action.
