16 students beaten by teacher in Dera Bassi

Sixteen students studying in Class VIII in Government Senior Secondary School Mubarikpur,near Dera Bassi,were brutally beaten by the computer teacher of the school on Friday.

Sixteen students studying in Class VIII in Government Senior Secondary School Mubarikpur,near Dera Bassi,were brutally beaten by the computer teacher of the school on Friday. The parents of the students lodged a complaint against the teacher at the Dera Bassi Police Station.

Sources say the students were given a lot of homework by the science teacher Anju. Since the students failed to complete the homework in time,the teacher scolded them, and then complained to the computer teacher Vikram.

Sources say the computer teacher closed the door of the classroom and started beating the students with a wooden stick.

The eight students whose parents reported to the police today include Satnam Singh,Rahul,Chand,Sunil,Baljit Singh,Harish,Gurtej Singh and Amrik Singh. All of them are between 13 and 15 years of age.

Talking to Newsline after lodging a complaint with Dera Bassi police,these students said that Vikram did not listen to them,and beat them. The parents of the students showed the bruises of the children to the police,and said that the accused teacher must be punished.

The principal of the school Jaswinder Singh Nayyar has been on leave since the last week. He was informed about the incident on telephone. He assured that the school authorities will take strict action against the teacher.

DSP Dera Bassi JS Khera said that investigations into the case are on,and the accused teacher has been told to come to the police station tomorrow morning.

When contacted,computer teacher Vikram Singh said that he had beaten the children for their own good. He said the women teachers often complained to him about the increasing carelessness among the Class VIII students and so being a male teacher,he took the initiative to teach them a lesson.
