Four days after a 17-year-old girl was found murdered on the railway tracks, near the Industrial Area in Chandigarh, the police after studying the post-mortem report is suspecting that deceased may have been sexually assaulted, before being murdered.
The minor was found dead under mysterious circumstances on September 9. Her body was sent for post-mortem to the General Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula. “There are doubts that she was allegedly sexually assaulted, so we have taken the viscera samples for examination,” said Dr Sunil Gambhir, a forensic expert.
The Government Railways Police (GRP) has registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act following a complaint by the girl’s father.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Tekan Chand said, “She was in a relationship with one of the accused, Kuldeep Chauhan who works in a mall in Industrial Area. Her father had met Kuldeep’s family regarding their marriage, however they refused and passed casteist remarks. Few days later, she went missing and then her body was found lying near the tracks.”
