EMPLOYEES OF the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation will observe one-day strike on September 28 in favour of their long-pending demands. The strike will be observed under the banner of the Coordination Committee of Government and MC Employees and Workers, Chandigarh.
A meeting of working committee of MC Employees’ Union was held at MC Public Health Division number 3 under the presidentship of Ajit Singh. They expressed their demands for regularisation of daily wage / work charge employees, contractual employees and filling up vacant posts.
During the meeting, the working committee unanimously reiterated its decision to observe strike on September 28. While addressing the meeting, Ajit Singh, president; and Rakesh Gupta, general secretary of union, said that the Chandigarh Administration should regularise the services of daily wage / work charge employees without any delay and labour laws should be implemented in respect of contractual
He said there was great resentment among the employees against the Municipal Corporation authorities for not filling up 175 posts of clerical cadre.
Rakesh Kumar, convener, Coordination Committee of Government and MC Employees and Workers, Chandigarh; and Sachin Kumar, president of Fire and Emergency Union, too, addressed the gathering.
