Set deadline for Chandigarh International Airport facilities: Punjab and Haryana HC

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed CHIAL to inform the court about a deadline for providing such facilities.

OBSERVING THAT passengers flying abroad from the Chandigarh international airport will have to wait for some more months to enjoy the facilities and infrastructure amenable to international standards, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL) to inform the court about a deadline for providing such facilities.

A division bench comprising Justices S S Saron and Hari Pal Verma, on Friday, also directed the Punjab government, Chandigarh administration and CHIAL to hold a meeting before September 22 to discuss land acquisition of land for construction of parallel runway with CAT-III landing facility at minimum visibility meant for use during winters.

During the resumed hearing of a PIL , CHIAL said tenders floated for establishing the basic facilities such as ATMs, money exchange counters, Wi-Fi facility and duty-free shops at the international airport had received poor response. The case will come up for hearing again on September 22.
