Chandigarh: Dancer enthralls audience

IN continuation with its tradition, the Pracheen Kala Kendra organised its 226th Baithak on Monday evening, in which Bharatnatyam danseuse Priya Srinivasan captivated the audience with her performance. Priya mesmerised the audience with her skillful footwork to intricate rhythmic patterns of Natvangam and her dance was a sheer display of energy. A post- graduate in dance from Kalakshetra, Chennai, Priya has learned Bharatnatyam from Leela Samson.

The dancer began the performance with a bhajan composition by Tulsidas in rag ‘Hamsadhawani’ set to tal Mishra Chapu.

In her next piece, another bhajan from Surdas ‘bhoojhat Shyam kaun tu gori’, Priya depicted Lord Krishna’s first encounter with Radha and the conversation between Radha and Krishna. She concluded her recital with a Thillana, a pure nritta piece with crisp footwork and poses in raga Hindolam set to Khanda ek Talam.
