Ahmedabad: Website of Cantonment Board allegedly hacked

The website of the Cantonment Board Ahmedabad, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Defence (MoD) that caters to the needs of civic administration of the cantonment, is suspected to have been hacked on Friday. A police complaint has also been filed in this regard.

Around noon, the home page of the website- http://www.cbahmedabad.org.in-displayed a black background that carried the words: “Hacked by jorDan HaXor” written on it. The home page was restored after sometime. When asked if the website was hacked, official sources in the defence establishment in Ahmedabad claimed that the “home page of the Cantonment Board website got corrupted and technical investigations was being pursued.”

“This website is used primarily to send out public notices and tender information, etc. It has not classified data whatsoever,” stated the defence spokesperson Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman in Ahmedabad. An official police complaint was also lodged in the Shahibaug police station. Police officials confirmed that they received a formal complaint from a private firm Silver Touch Technologies Ltd, which maintains the Cantonment Board Ahmedabad website. “The operator of this website was summoned and quizzed by us,” a police official added.
