Two children die in Bangalore as bus plows down their mother’s scooter

Two young children were killed in Bangalore on Sunday evening when a private bus rammed into the two wheeler of their mother.

Two young children were killed in Bangalore on Sunday evening when a private bus rammed into the two wheeler their mother was attempting to park under a tree to avoid a heavy downpour. A 15-month-old and a 13-year-old were killed when the private bus rammed into their mother’s scooter on Sunday evening in front of the Ulsoor Gate police station.

The Ulsoor Gate traffic police said that the children were identified as Shama Anjum, 13, and Baby Aiman, 15 months old, residents of Siddapur in South Bangalore.

Police said that the mother of the children, Ameena, was riding her scooter with her children when a heavy downpour began. As she attempted to steer her vehicle under a tree to shelter her family from the heavy downpour a speeding private bus rammed into the scooter from behind, police said.

The two children who were riding pillion fell onto the road and sustained severe head injuries. The children were declared dead when taken to hospital. The mother of the children suffered no injuries as she fell away from the traffic.

Police said that Aiman was the son of Ameena while Anjum was her step-daughter. Police said that Ameena was going towards the Bangalore railway station region where the family runs a store when the accident occurred. The driver of the bus was arrested, police said.
