BJP leader and candidate from Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency Ananth Kumar filed his nomination at the Electoral Registration Officer’s (ERO) office on Wednesday.
The five-time MP expressed confidence about winning against political novice Nandan Nilekani, former UIDAI chairman and Infosys co-founder.
Accompanied by wife Tejaswini and former deputy chief minister R Ashoka, Ananth Kumar filed his papers on the first day of filing nominations in the state.
BJP MP PC Mohan filed his nomination from Bangalore Central and Shobha Karandlaje filed hers from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency.
Former chief ministers B S Yeduyarappa and D V Sadananda Gowda will be filing their nominations from Shimoga and Bangalore North constituency respectively, BJP sources said. Journalist Pratap Simha is likely to file his nomination from Mysore on Thursday.
The party also announced that film star Rakshitha will officially join the BJP on Thursday and participate in the campaign.
Over 20 candidates in the state filed their nominations on Wednesday, including Shankar Bidari (Independent) from Bagalkot, A Krishnappa (JDS) from Tumkur and KH Muniyappa (INC) from Kolar among others.
