Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels have dropped from the high of 300 mg/dl recorded when he began naturopathy treatment at the Jindal Naturecure Institute one week ago to a more stable 180 mg/dl, senior practitioners at the institute said.
The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party who, is on a 10-day break from Delhi to avail treatment for high sugar levels and a persistent cough, is well on the road to recovery and will fly back to New Delhi on Monday, the chief medical officer at Jindal Naturecure, Dr Babina Nandakumar, said.
Kejriwal’s blood sugar, immunity level and persistent cough condition had improved significantly over the past week, Dr Nandakumar said. The cough had reduced by 75 per cent, she said.
“Despite his insulin dosage being cut and a reduction of medicines, his blood sugar level has come down from 300 mg/dl to 180 mg/dl through natural treatment methods. His immunity has considerably improved and his cough has reduced 75 per cent,” Dr Nandakumar said.
Kejriwal, 46, labelled an “anarchist” by political rivals was described by Dr Nandakumar as the “most obedient’ patient at the Jindal Naturecure Institute. “He has been most obedient. I have never seen him watching television or using his mobile phone during breaks in treatment. He has religiously followed the recommended schedule and has been attending back to back naturopathy sessions. He has restricted himself to the prescribed diet and has made remarkable progress due to his commitment,” Dr Nandakumar said.
The Delhi Chief Minister will have to continue practicing yoga on his return to the capital to stay healthy, she said. “He must continue practicing pranayama, yogic kriyas and asanas despite his schedules. Though he has managed to maintain his weight at a healthy level, he needs to get a minimum of seven to eight hours of sleep every day, engage in stress-relieving activities, rest between work and follow a healthy diet pattern,” Dr Nandakumar said.
The AAP convenor’s mother Gita Devi and father Gobind Ram Kejriwal, who are also at the Jindal Naturecure Insititute, too were showing progress following treatment of their ailments, she said. Kejriwal’s mother initially had multiple complaints of arthritis, stiffness and mobility issues.
Before leaving on Monday Kejriwal will undergo a counselling and motivation session to enable him to stay the course in terms of a healthy lifestyle.
