A 30-year-old woman was stabbed to death allegedly by a man with whom she was in a relationship, at Thorala in the city on Monday morning. The accused, who got injured while trying escape, was immediately arrested by police.
According to police, the incident happened around 10.30 am when the accused, identified as Jamnagar resident Setta, visited the rented residence of the woman and stabbed her 14 times. The woman, a native of Uttar Pradesh, died on the spot, while Setta got injured when he tried to escape after breaking a glass door. He was caught when he was trying to reach a hospital.
“The woman, we suspect, was a sex worker. Setta, who works in a sweetmeat shop in Jamnagar, and the victim were in a relationship for two years. But today, they entered an argument and Setta stabbed her to death,” Inspector Sukhvinder Singh Gaddu said. Investigators said that Setta turned violent after the woman declined his marriage proposal.
