Senior Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela today criticised Chief Minister Narendra Modi for opposing the proposed reservation to minorities within the OBC quota and alleged the CM had wasted Rs 200 crore of people on his publicity.

“Why does he have a problem with minority welfare while he does publicity of amity with minority?” said the former Chief Minister at the launch of Sardar Sandesh Yatra to counter Modi’s Sadbhavana Mission fast.

The yatra will end at Karamsad on January 13.

On the Sadbhavana Mission,Vaghela said Modi was “diverting people’s attention” from basic issues concerning the unemployed, farmers, widows and the common man.

He alleged the BJP was “misusing” Sardar Patel’s name for political gain,“so we have organised this yatra to create awareness among the people”.

“We are going to all the constituencies and districts to create awareness against the misdeeds of this (state) government,” said Vaghela, who is leading the party’s 2012 Assembly election campaign.
